The Waves of Prosperity and Psalm 72
Psalm 72 reads as follows from the New King James version of the Bible:
1 Give the king Your judgments, O God,
And Your righteousness to the king’s Son.
2 He will judge Your people with righteousness,
And Your poor with justice.
3 The mountains will bring peace to the people,
And the little hills, by righteousness.
4 He will bring justice to the poor of the people;
He will save the children of the needy,
And will break in pieces the oppressor.
5 They shall fear You[a]
As long as the sun and moon endure,
Throughout all generations.
6 He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing,
Like showers that water the earth.
7 In His days the righteous shall flourish,
And abundance of peace,
Until the moon is no more.
8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea,
And from the River to the ends of the earth.
9 Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before Him,
And His enemies will lick the dust.
10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles
Will bring presents;
The kings of Sheba and Seba
Will offer gifts.
11 Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him;
All nations shall serve Him.
12 For He will deliver the needy when he cries,
The poor also, and him who has no helper.
13 He will spare the poor and needy,
And will save the souls of the needy.
14 He will redeem their life from oppression and violence;
And precious shall be their blood in His sight.
15 And He shall live;
And the gold of Sheba will be given to Him;
Prayer also will be made for Him continually,
And daily He shall be praised.
16 There will be an abundance of grain in the earth,
On the top of the mountains;
Its fruit shall wave like Lebanon;
And those of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.
17 His name shall endure forever;
His name shall continue as long as the sun.
And men shall be blessed in Him;
All nations shall call Him blessed.
18 Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel,
Who only does wondrous things!
19 And blessed be His glorious name forever!
And let the whole earth be filled with His glory.
Amen and Amen.
20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.
The focal point of this psalm is Solomon himself and this is one of two psalms that attribute authorship to him.
While scholars weight heavily the prophetic aspects of this psalm, this psalm gives some key imaging to the reality of prosperity and how this may occur in waves like the incoming waves at the shores of the great oceans of the world and the psalm gives context to what these individual waves of prosperity might be and the perspective and view of the psalm is Solomon as the beholder of the incoming waves of prosperity in the position as king like someone standing midday on a wide expanse of beach front and watching the giant waves of the seas rolling in from on yonder.
We certainly know from the depictions in the Bible that not only was Solomon given by the Lord the greatest wisdom known to men at that time but also in addition to the specific gifts of wisdom untold and nearly unimaginable realms of prosperity that was beyond belief to the reader and fit the idea of unending even unexpected waves of prosperity coming from the Lord pointed directly to him.
When Solomon initially asked for wisdom, he received that from the Lord but the Lord relayed that because he did not ask for other things but brought for the request for wisdom,when the Lord had given him carte Blanche to ask for anything and everything, all these other great gifts would be given to him besides or additionally and as it turned out talll these others things ended up coming coming towards him in seemingly unending and great waves, all of which is indicative that if the Lord is given additions to the program so to speak, these additions might come through in the form of waves of gifts, rather than just one or a few stand alone gifts. Solomon really asked for just one stand alone gift and all these other gifts came towards him like great waves rolling in towards the shores of the sea.

The surfer longs for the moments when the waves ride in just perfectly and really is not looking for just only that perfect wave but an experience of waves in the realm of waves, in terms of height and timing there is the more ideal waves and incoming formation of waves. . This is a tangible hope that an in fact be realized but something that is part of an uncontrolled and unconstrained force, the surfer can only hope for this and hope he or she is there for this when and if it does happen. .
The waves of prosperity are certainly coming towards Solomon in a gush of waves that seem prominent, visible, and there is no hiding that these touches of prosperity through others such as the great queen or Sheba, are actually from the hand of the Lord as waves of gifts.
Solomon isn’t taking part in a gold rush, the gold; all of the gifts are coming towards him.
The Bible specifies he asked for only one thing, wisdom.
There are two aspects to consider within this that can relate to someone today who is seeking the Lord in the realms of prayer. One is consideration of the ways in which the the Lord is talking the initiative, as it is the Lord himself who initially approaches Solomon and asks him what he wants and further on in the story it is it the Lord who is generating the waves of blessings, gifts, and prosperity as they approach and continue on into the presence of Solomon.

The second aspect that the Lord is taking the initiative on things that perhaps were not in your requests or within your line of thought, yet do involve things like abundance that is beyond or outside of the proverbial box of what you had been considering.
So the fact of the matter is that there is a need to prepare for out of the box thinking and happenings when dealing with the Lord in prayer and that the expectations you have can be far removed from any limits you have to your thinking or within your own abilities to imagine upon, picture or think up of what can happen that does come from the Lord outside of what you are actually asking for.
Ephesians 3.20
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.
The thing to do is to get in the right relationship with the Lord at the beginnings of all you might want but also to pay attention to, ponder about, and inquire about what the Lord is initiating towards you even at the get go of what is happening and this is where prosperity might begin and and potentially originate and continue to roll forth like the great waves of the seas for the happy surfer.
The other aspect of it will be that it will form in a way that is pleasing to the person.
Adam was pleased with the presentation of Eve and the form of the woman was something that was precise to what would make him happy.
One of the secrets of prosperity is to call upon a general prosperity through the powers that be and in most cases this will be through towering powers of prayers as intervening for others and it is from these great towers of prayer that these waves of prosperity are generated and go forth.
Verse 16 in this psalm says,
16 There will be an abundance of grain in the earth,
On the top of the mountains;
Its fruit shall wave like Lebanon;
And those of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.
What you are trying to do is catch the Lord’s waves but you can also through the towering power of prayer be a partaker in generating these waves of prosperity which should also be generated outward in the voice of intercessory prayer according to the images presenting in verse 16 of this psalm .
The idea is that if you can identify and go further towards what the Lord is initiating towards you, there will backup help as assistance and more waves will be coming in behind this set of waves that the Lord is initiating towards you.
The belief and trust can be that the Lord will keep the waves rolling in for what he is starting for you.
What can happen from any standing point is inclusive of the real possibility of waves of prosperity and abundance of which the Lord is able to bring in with unending precision and cascading abundance from any point you’re at now into the near and far future.
You can be standing at the point of utter failure, seeming despair, a lack of hope and personal vision and it wouldn’t matter if the Lord decides to bring forth the waves of prosperity as he can bring them into any standing point including one that isn’t so great.
Granted, Solomon was well positioned as the reigning King when these waves were rolling in for him but even if he wasn’t these waves could have been brought forth regardless.
Try to understand and get with what the Lord is initiating and the probability that in some other ways and forms in can be a ” Solomon like experience” of involving generous waves of gifts and favors.
It isn’t necessarily like you will fall off the face of the earth if you don’t seek this and find this, but all in all if you don’t you will be missing out and part of this missing out is just not having an understanding in the first place that this is the way things can be.
If the Lord was going to and did do this for Solomon, why would similar or in some ways like channels not be brought forth for other people as it says in his word that the Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever.
And people do get worked up for the mad scramble for this or that, look at how people swamp into stores for the holiday sales
Sitting silently in the presence of the Lord may be the best place to begin any quest for any form of prosperity if it is ever to be
The symbolism of waving on the hilltops or mountaintops on this psalm is that the Lord will make known his ways and within this also his ways of prosperity but there still needs to be tuning towards and into the mystical ways of the Lord and a tuning in and acknowledgement in turn with and of knowing his ways which strongly does include prayer as interestingly prayer and gold are tied in with the same verse in this psalm, maybe two crests to the same wave.
Verse 15 in this psalm says:
15 And He shall live;
And the gold of Sheba will be given to Him;
Prayer also will be made for Him continually,
And daily He shall be praised.
in the very same verse, one wave that is coming in for Solomon is the prayer of others for him and another wave is the gold of Sheba.
The prayer does fit the description of waves in that it will be continuous and will continue but so will the other gifts such as gold and whatever else they might be so you can see within this verse and within the psalm the correlation of the continuance of prayer and the continuance of other gifts that might have been taken for granted.
It says in the first letter of Paul to Timothy in Chapter 2 starting with verse 1 where it says:
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, andgiving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
As it says in these verses, keep going with the prayers for the King or in this day and age the leaders either politically or in the church and also all men and this is calling or a general prosperity of which some of the waves will come right back to the person who is calling for this to happen for others in prayer.
So by creating waves for others through the strong and mighty watchtower of prayer, you are also creating good waves for yourself and your own surfboard
The generosity you are bestowing in prayer also turns around and comes back to you in waves as well in maybe some disguised form in that case but yes it will come back in some way and some time for good.
In this psalm the waves keep coming in the future through the line of descendants.
This psalm, which is considered prophetic to the messianic line, also strongly portrays the lord as the first mover in graces.
In trying to follow the movement of graces, that the Lord has for and within the initial appearances of grace and with the bringing the initial appearance of graces into the prayer of thanksgiving and bathing it further in that prayer, this can be helpful in understanding the possible continuance of these specific graces in new and greater unfolding waves, which may vary in form and contents of mystery but nonetheless will often and likely continue to roll in like the great and majestic waves of the sea as the Lord visits his graces upon the great like Solomon and the small like the rest of us.
