Society already has this belief and many ancient ones did to and there where still many wars over land, power, and which religion was correct.
Uh…take a look around – half our society DOES belief in life after death, whether it’s heaven, reincarnation, or something else.
And look at what we’re like…….
As we live in such a society, we already know that it doesn’t bring love and peace.
Of course, neither does atheism. But then again, atheism doesn’t promise such things, either.
In my 46 years of experience, I’ve found that no matter what people believe, a large percent of them still spend a percentage of their time being jerks to others, regardless of their beliefs or the beliefs of the other people.
Hmmm….interesting. I am guessing that you are inferring that there would be no reason to kill anyone since everyone truly believed that it would do no good.
The one problem, however, would be that for an entire society to believe that, there would need to be proof. (someone who’s body died and could still readily communicate with all the living people).
Since people are not perfect but instead flawed they can behave contrary, to even what they know to be good, I would say in such a place there would be some love, peace, and prosperity along with some hatred, violence, and poverty.
A lot like the world we live in today.
By the way, deep down, I think everybody already knows that there is life after death and that their is eternal cousiousness.
Hope that helps.
you can solve this question by assuming that there is NO life after death. this is more likely the case
nobody had proven that this is even possible, but the religions ask you to believe in it.what a fiasco!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a tenant of Eastern thought, such as Buddhism, and we seem peaceful (ok, I fling poo for a hobby, guilty), loving, kind and nonviolent; and the more accomplished have found happiness and by their definition prosperity.
EDIT: After reading some of the answers, I don’t think they fully grasp the essence of the question. No offense anyone, if you’re not exposed to the concept of non-self or no soul you can’t grasp the idea that your essence is exactly where it has always been for all eternity right now, and where it will always be, it’s there right now.
